Confession

I have to confess....I've fallen in love with Sock Monkeys. So I decided to crochet a couple of them. This is Adam, I will have pictures of his sister soon.
I've also posted a couple of journal pages...not too happy with them though. I'm really looking forward to Monday, because I start my on-line class with Kelly....I can't wait.

My own style

I'm still trying to find my own style of art. I really like the "graffiti grunge" style of Alisa Burke, Traci Bunker and Sabrina Ward Harrison. All my life I've been tidy and neat....now I just want to let loose and get "down and dirty". I wanna make a mess.

This is my latest journal page.

Things on My Mind Today

Love Facebook---but I'm spending too much time on there.

Don't like Twitter--I think it's dumb, sorry.

I'm disappointed with the Uniball pens I just bought....they skip like crazy.

Wish the sun would come out...it's really chilly here.

Looking forward to the "24" season finale tonight.

"You opened a window in my soul"

When it comes to art, I really am a"late bloomer". I only started painting and keeping an art journal in Oct. of 2008. Before that I dabbled strictly in crafts and collage.

Dancing was my first love.I had always wanted to be a dancer, a "prima ballerina", but health issues shattered that dream. My second love was art, but I was told by so many people that I did not have any artistic talent. So, I gave up that dream.

It wasn't until late last summer, when I was reading someone's blog and they had a link to SuziBlu on You Tube, so I checked it out. When I saw her Petit Doll paintings I said, "I can do that". So I started searching other art related videos on YouTube and decided to give it a try....just for me.

Then the art videos led to art blogs and I found all you wonderful and talented ladies out there, willing to share all your art and your techniques and I was so inspired and encouraged to do art just for myself...just to make me happy. So that's how I started Art Journaling and now I'll never stop making art. Thank you for opening that window in my soul.

So here's a toast to all my talented "Art Sisters".....You ladies "Rock"... I love you all!

Four Rooms

There is an old Indian proverb that says that everyone is a house with four rooms....a physical, an emotional , a mental and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room, every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.

"No Sock Day"

Yup....today is "No sock Day". A day devoted to not wearing socks. Think about it...if we skip wearing socks for a day, it reduces our laundry and therefore helps the environment. So take off those socks and free those little toes.

While we're on the subject of socks, we all know that our laundry appliances like to devour the occasional sock now and then, leaving us with a lot of "onesie socks". So here are a few ideas on how to use those odd socks.

If you have small children at home or even grand-children, make a sock puppet or sock doll {remember them?} They're easy to make and kids love them.

If you have a "little crawler", you can cut the toe off odd socks and slip them over the baby's knees for added protection when crawling.

Odd socks also make great IPod holders or put one over your hand and use it to dust.

If you have a feline friend, you can fill the toe with catnip then tie it closed and you have a Catnip Ball for your furry little buddy.

You can also fill the toe with salt and wipe your bathroom mirrors with it to keep them from fogging up. Or you can fill the sock with body powder and make your own "powder puff".

Whatever you do....just have fun and wiggle those toes.

Happy No-Sock Day!
