Another mini

This is my latest mini. This one is for me and my "Louisanna Man".

I bought these little metal mailboxes for a dollar at Target. Then I decorated them and made a mini album to fit inside.

February

According to pagan legend, the month of February derives it name from the Roman goddess Februs, mother of Mars and the patroness of love. So therefore the month of February is the month of passion and love. But....did you know that February was also:

Addictions

Yes....I'm an addict! I'm addicted to making mini albums. They are so much fun to make and give as gifts. Especially when you have a sister, 3 daughters - in- law and 6 grand- daughters that enjoy receiving them. Mini albums are a fun addiction.

My other addiction is art journaling. Art journaling centers me, balances me, stimulates and calms me at the same time. I not only like to journal....I need to art journal. If I couldn't do art in my journals I would suffocate from stress, anxiety and boredom. Well....maybe not boredom, because I always have my # 1 addiction, which is books.

Anyway, mini albums are for fun and mostly for other people. On the other hand, art journaling is a necessity and its for me and only me.

Above is a picture of my lastest art journal that I just finished decorating. I choose the center picture because I have the same tatoo only mine is on my left shoulder.

I've decided to try making greeting cards...again! I was inspired by all the cute cards that Janis makes at http://pausedreamenjoy.blogspot.com. Check them out ,there realy adorable.

Anyway I decided to make an easel card. This is just a prototype I made up real fast. Hope you like it.

Book Review

I just finished Dan Brown's "Lost Symbol". I've read the Di Vinci Code and Angels and Demons and also saw both movies. I loved both books and enjoyed both movies. But Lost Symbols just Blew me away. In my opinion it is the best one of the three. If you haven't read the first two, that's okay because this book stands alone.
Even though these books are fictional, Dan Brown throws in so many facts that I've taken notes while reading each book and I've learn so much. I love reading novels, but it's such an extra bonus when you can come away from a book learning something.
Highly recommended!!!

Sherlock Holmes

I've always been a big fan of Sherlock Holmes....especially with Jeremy Brett, so I was not really thrilled with the chose of Robert Downing Jr. and Judd Law. But we saw the movie last night and I loved it. Both R.D.J and Jude Law did a fantastic job, in my opinion. There was action, comedy and a plot. Worth seeing.

Road trip!

Heading to New Jersey tomorrow for my Christmas visit and for my future daughter-in-laws bridal shower. My youngest son is getting married in March to a real sweet girl. I'm really lucky because I have three great daughters-in-law.....I love them to pieces.

My heart goes out to our neighbors in Haiti. They are the poorest nation in the western hemisphere and they need our help. TO DONATE $10 TO RED CROSS FOR PEOPLE UB HAITI JUST TEXT THE WORD HAITI TO 90999!. It will just charge to your cell bill!

Mini for Amanda

This is a mini album I made for my grand-daughter. I love making these things!! I took these pictures with my new camera. I plan to take a bunch of pictures when I go to NJ next week-end.

Book Review

TITHE, by Holly Black

This is my first book review and I really wanted to like this book. The concept was good.....entering the realm of scary, evil, fairies seemed like a new twist. The book started out great, some really interesting characters. However, the interesting characters were the humans, the fairies in the book seemed very flat and dull.
I really had a hard time finishing it.

Avatar

We went to see the movie "Avatar" in Imax and 3D. Fantastic movie, can't wait to see it again. I don't like going to the the movies because I hate to sit still for too long, I have a lot of nervous energy, but this is one of those movies that you have to see on the big screen, especially the first time. I highly recommend it.

Mini album

I've been so busy making mini albums for Christmas gifts but last night I decided to make this little one for myself. It was so much fun to make and it's made out of toilet tissue rolls. In each slot there is a tag for pictures and or journaling. These little guys are addictive.

Lighten Up Saturday

Today is a day to play. Feel as free as you did when you were a child. Play...have fun...find your bliss and live it! Dance, sing, skip, whistle. Color in a coloring book, play board games, do a puzzle, just have fun.

Good Feelings Friday

Today as you move through your day ,give all your attention to how you're feeling. Keep filling yourself up with good feelings. Fill your day with what ever makes you feel good. Listen to your favorite song, buy your favorite lunch, call a favorite friend. Do things that you love and that make you feel good. Be good to yourself.

New Favorite toy

Oh....I forgot to tell you guys about my new favorite toy. Don gave me a Sony Reader, and I love it.This reader holds thousands of books and it's the size of a standard paperback book but only 1/4 inch thick. I've already got about 15 books loaded, I just download them from the internet.
It's great because one of those books is Stephen King's "Under the Dome", which is about 1500 pages long. So now I'm going to load the 100 books that I'm going to read for my 2010 Challenge.

I love new toys, now I'm just waiting for my new camera to arrive.

Thank you Thursday

Today say and feel "Thank you" in as many ways as you can. When you're on the phone or watching T.V., instead of doodling, write "Thank you". Say it in your head several times an hour. Say it out loud to everyone who does something for you {this should just come naturally}. If you're driving, say "Thank you" every time you stop.
These two words have a lot of power and all they need is you to release the power by expressing them.

Good Deeds Wednesday

Today and every Wednesday is your chance to do good deeds. It doesn't need to be anything big, you can give encouragement to someone, give good words, give compliments, give kindness, give a smile or just give your genuine interest when someone is talking to you. Look for opportunities to do good deeds, the reward is worth it.

Appreciation Tuesday

Today is Appreciation Tuesday and every Tuesday is your day to appreciate all the things in your life. Appreciate your family, your health, the weather, your clothes, your talent, your home, your bed, your food, your pets, your colleagues, the people who serve you, the transportation you use, your eyes, your ears....well you get the idea.
Especially appreciate all the good things that happened to you in the past and all the good things that will happen to you in the future.

Good Thoughts Monday!

Try this.....take the seven days of the week and change your entire outlook on life. Today is "Good Thoughts Monday", so today and every Monday try to think only good thoughts. Refuse to give in to any negative thoughts. This won't be easy, but it's worth a try.
The average human thinks over 50,000 thoughts a day, so you have 50,000 opportunities to think good thoughts.

December Journal

I signed up again for Kelly Kilmers APAD class. Unfortunately after this December she is closing that class till further notice. So this is the cover of my December handmade journal. I'll be posting pages in the future.

The Puzzle Queen

My sister Linda is the queen of jigsaw puzzles. She always has at least one puzzle going at all times. So for her birthday I made her this mini album with every page being a puzzle piece. Thanks to a great kit from Laura Dennison at Follow the Paper Trail. Her kits are the best.

All the colored crystals I used in the album represent her children 's birthstones, her husbands birthstone and her birthstone. It was so much fun to make.

Jillian !!!!

I went to NJ this past week-end. It was my grand-daughter Sarah's birthday and I finally got to see my new "little Goddess", Jillian. This is pretty much how she looked all week-end. She would open her eyes, drink a bottle and then go back to "chillin".
My heart is just so shinny and grateful. I am truly blessed.

Mini Books

Hi everyone....I've been real busy working on my mini albums. I'm making three for Christmas gifts and I'm working on one for a birthday gift. These are pictures of a vintage one that I just finished. Don't know what I'm doing with this one yet. I'm just having so much fun making these things.

Freedom

Freedom isn't free....someone had to pay for it. Thank you to all the veterans, including my father and grand-father.

Book Love

Over the week-end I picked up this great little book. It's only about 4 inches by 6 inches, but it has 365 daily quotations and a paragraph or two to help you think about the idea expressed in the quotation. They are all very modern quotes.

Besides just giving you something to think about.....I find that the quotations make great journal prompts. It's worth checking out this book, it also makes a great Christmas gift.
